What I learned from Digital Photography Tips

In my last post, Photography Tutorials and Tips, which is found HERE, I talked a little about considering photography, how I started, and a website I found and learned from. In this post, I want to demonstrate one technique I learned from Digital Photography
Tips website and hopefully spark a discussion about this photo. Although I knew how to use shutter speed and aperture to create a decent photo, I had no idea how photographers managed to capture moment like this water drop. This picture took me a couple of attempts before I got anything worth saving.

The camera I used is a Nikon Coolpix P90. The following are the settings I used as well. This picture was taken around noon when the sun was shinning brightly in the sky.

1/2000 second
F/8.0
23 mm
400

Now, I also used photoshop to fix the color and tones, but the picture turned out pretty good. Looking at these kinds of pictures in the past, I would have thought it required slow shutter speed to capture such a moment, however, the exact opposite was the case. I look forward to taking more picture like these and testing my new found skill on water falls and water fountains.

What do you think could have been improved on this picture? What would have been worth trying? Did I do anything wrong? Anything you would have done different than what I did? Any tips for beginners out there? Comment below and let us know.
